TIPS FOR TAKING THE VLE
- Find your BIGGEST and DEEPEST “WHY?”
- BE FORWARD LOOKING
- Laging tandaan ang 3P’s
- PREPARATION
- PERSEVERANCE
- PRAYER
Good preparation will never betray you.
Prepare early. Isa din na isipin niyo, you’ve studied 6 yrs or longer not just to pass the VLE but to prove that you are a competent, world class, VETERINARIAN. It's because you have the knowledge and skills to be a VET.
Never Give up. Never Stop. Never Back Down.
Perseverance, yan yung mahirap i-maintain lalo pag napanghihinaan ka ng loob, sobra kang pressured, jan papasok ulit yung BIGGEST and DEEPEST “WHY?” mo. Ok lang magpahinga, basta wag kang magtatagal na nakatigil kasi mahirap ibalik yung momentum. Kayanin mo. Kung di mo na kaya, KAYA MO PA (DAMI MONG ALAM!!!!).
God is Able. God is Bigger. God is in Control.
In everything you do, offer it to the Lord. Always ask Him to be with you, to accompany you, to provide for you what you need every day. Lahat naman ng mabuti sa Kanya galing. When you pray, 'yung mula sa puso dapat, wag ninyong idasal yung minememorize.
This will be your Driving Force to push through even when you face the hardest obstacles.
Kailangan kong makabawi. Giving up now is not an option.”
This is just an example, each one of us has that reason why we do things, in this moment na may haharapin kayong hurdle which is yung upcoming VLE, this will help you conquer the pressure and help you go forward until the day of the exam comes.
Your BIGGEST and DEEPEST “WHY?” does not only serve its purpose para sa VLE it continues on as you become a VET so continue to strive and be the BEST VETERINARIAN you can be.
Don’t just live in the now. See the bigger picture. Dig deeper. Go further.
What I want you to realize is that you should base all your actions and decisions on what outcomes and goals you want to achieve in the future.
For example, gusto mong pumasa, what you should do is prepare early, make good use of all your free time, manage your time well, finish all your requirements (Thesis!!!!) ASAP. If you’re torn between inuman session and a study night na ini-schedule mo dahil may free time kayo, choose to study.
TECHNICAL PREPARATION
- As early as now, borrow review manuals from previous passers.
- Create your “WAR ROOM” TODAY!!
- Compile and print all Mnemonics, Tables, Data, Normal Values etc. na alam niyong kakailanganin niyo, idikit na sa walls or any areas na lagi niyong tinitignan.
No one can motivate you better than yourself.
- Put the VLE Board Passers Creed in a place where you always look at. Grabeng motivation yung dala niyan.
- Pag Field Experience/OJT niyo na, STATEBOARDS/Q&As ang dalhin niyo, wag libro, it's lighter both in weight and in knowledge digestibility. Make sure you read every day. Put in your phone, CONCISE REVIEW MATERIALS. Nakakaantok tska nakakapagod magbasa ng malalalalim na books lalo’t pagod kayo the whole day pag OJT. This is practical and efficient.

PRACTICAL TIPS
- Make sure to bring Mongol 2 pencils (bring 2 or more), eraser (exam grade Stabilo/Staedtler), sharpener, black ballpen (at least 2, double check if it does not bleed since you will need it to write on your answer sheet), non-scientific calculator (scientific calculators are not allowed), baon/food for lunch & snacks, 1L bottled water and remove the label, 1 piece long plastic (transparent, non-colored) envelope, 1 piece long brown envelope, Notice of Admission (NOA), Official receipt, Filled-out ANNEX A,B, and C, and windowed mailing envelope. Wear your white vetmed uniform or anything white upper. Name plate and I.D. is no longer needed, but you can bring them just to be sure.
- Bring meds for headache (Ibuprofen 400mg, Paracetamol 500mg, etc.), hyperacidity (Omeprazole 20mg), stomachache (Loperamide 2mg), and dysmenorrhea.
- Don't drink too much water in one gulp, just sip. Pee breaks are not allowed once the exam for the subject has started. If by any chance you're allowed, surely, you'll be escorted by the police.
- When drinking water, be careful not to spill on your answer sheet. Put it first inside your plastic envelope (required) to be sure. It's a better practice to drink water before receiving the answer sheet.
- Don't eat too much during breaks or lunch. You'll definitely suffer food coma/ postprandial somnolence.
- Don't sleep late during the exam dates. Nothing good happens after 10 PM.
- Adapt the active state of your brain with the time of the board exam. To do this, you need to adjust your body clock several weeks before the exam dates. Make your study hours similar to the time of the exam which is 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. So, train yourself to wake up before or at 6:00 AM, and at 8:00 AM sharp, you need to start studying. Do this straight until at least 4:00 PM. You may take short breaks or have power naps in between. I suggest a power nap of 20-25 minutes long if you find yourself not able to focus and absorb what you are studying. Just make sure that you set an alarm accordingly. Also, please know that in the VLE, every subject is allotted with 2 hours to answer, and there is 1 hour break between subjects.
- Butterflies in your stomach during the first day of the exam is normal. You can't avoid it. Just pray, it'll eventually go. Surrender your worries to the Lord. You did your best during the review. No more regrets. Everything will be fine.
- A calm mind is a sharp mind, do the things that make you calm. Pray or do a breathing exercise.
- Your answer sheet is very important. Treat it with utmost care.
- Read first all the questions in the questionnaire before you start answering. There are always duplicate questions in the VLE, make sure to get it right. Reading first will also give you an advantage over similar or associated questions.
- Use elimination when you don't know exactly the answer. Increase your probability of getting it right through analysis rather than just randomly choosing your answer.
- Long choices aren't always the answer, just as All of the Above/ Choose All, Both A & B, or None of the Above do. Analyze and eliminate. Similar choices are most likely not the answer, or what's the most different choice is most likely the answer.
- Read the questions carefully. Spot for the word EXCEPT. Those are notorious for making overconfident examinees wrong.
- Shade your answers lightly first or just place light dots. If you're really sure (100% sure) with your answer, shade it immediately to save time for cram shading later.
- When shading, be careful to only shade within the allotted area. Also don't push too hard, and don't shade using too sharp pencil you might poke the answer sheet. The shade area looks like this: [A] [B] [C] [D] [E]
- Avoid erasures in your answer sheet. If you can't avoid it and you're sure you shaded the wrong answer then erase it using a clean eraser preferably an exam grade Stabilo eraser or Staedtler. Erase it first to a clean area in the questionnaire before using it to your answer sheet. After erasing, make sure that you'll going to shade the correct letter and shade it darker that the remnants of your previous answer.
- Make use of your questionnaire. You are free to write on it. You can write your mnemonics there or do your analysis there. 'Yung sa akin nga parang may giyera talaga ng analysis charr 😂.
- Don't cheat, otherwise you'll be banned for life in taking any licensure examination. Trust in your efforts. Surrender your worries to the Lord. "Nasa Diyos and Awa, Nasa Tao ang Gawa".
- When you think the questions are too difficult, Pray. Pray before receiving the questionnaire and pray before submitting the answer sheet & questionnaire.
- God Bless po.😊
